the best birding in the country. Exotic birds can be found

Conservation Area and the Sonoita Creek Bird Sanctuary. Lake
Patagonia hosts some of the most unusual and rare waterfowl
in the country.
Historic: The area is rich in history. Visit
some of the legendary missions that dot the area. The ruins
of Tumacacori mission, established in 1691 and the Tubac
Presidio, once a Spainish military garrison are excellent
examples of this rich history. North on I-19 is Mission San
Xavier Del Bac, fully restored in its magnificent splendor.
Many of the missions hold festivals and celebrations
throughout the year.
Wineries: Dotting the area are a number of
vineyards which produce excellent wines, many of which you
can enjoy while dining in local establishments. Wine tasting
tours are a popular local activity.
Mexico: Just a few hours away are many
exceptional recreational opportunities. Cabo San Lucas hosts
some of the most luxurious resorts, golf courses and beaches
in the world. Experience deep sea fishing and scuba diving
in the Sea of Cortez, ocean kayaking and exotic big game
hunting. The seaport resort city of Guaymas is a great place
for deep sea fishing, unique shopping opportunities and
excellent, authentic mexican cuisine.
Tubac: Once a Spanish military garrison-now one of the most popular places to visit in the southwest. The
area encompasses: The Village of Tubac, Presidio State Historic Park and The Tubac Center for the Arts. Peaceful
streets lined with art galleries, working artist studios, restaurants and unique gift shops surrounded by spectacular
mountain vistas. Tubac, the place where art and history meet.
